Preparing Computers to Run DreamBox: Tips for Schools

1) WILL YOUR SECURITY SETTINGS RECOGNIZE DREAMBOX.COM AS A TRUSTED SITE?
If you have any security, parental control, or content filtering software running, please make sure dreambox.com is added to the list of trusted sites. This is very important, as aggressive web security and filters can limit DreamBox's access to the resources it needs to run properly.

2) IS YOUR ADOBE FLASH PLAYER UP TO DATE?*
Be sure that you are using the most current version of the Adobe Flash player. If you are unsure which version of Flash you are using, visit http://supportdetails.com/ and look for the box labeled Flash Version. To update your Flash Player, click the following link and download the latest version: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.

*RUNNING BROWSERS IN COMPATIBILITY VIEW/SIMILAR PLUGIN OR ADD-ON
If, after updating Flash, you still see an incompatible version error message, there may be an add-on to your browser or a special mode causing your browser to run an older version of itself. 'Compatibility View' is a compatibility mode feature of the web browser Internet Explorer in version 8 and later. When active, Compatibility View forces IE to display the webpage in Quirks mode as if the page were being viewed in IE7.  Other browsers like Firefox, Chrome, or Safari may have plugins or add-ons installed to mimic this behavior and will cause a conflict when running DreamBox.

3) DOES YOUR COMPUTER MEET THE MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS TO RUN DREAMBOX?
To test your computer and compare it to our system requirements, please click the following link: http://play.dreambox.com/play/check_requirements.

4) ARE ALL OF YOUR COMPUTERS USING THE SAME WEB BROWSER WITH THE SAME SETTINGS?
To keep the student experience as consistent as possible at your school, it is best to use one main browser and have a back-up browser installed to help troubleshoot if errors arise. Ideally, any browsers you use at school should be set to accept automatic updates to Adobe Flash. We recommend Google Chrome because Adobe Flash is currently built-in.

5) IS YOUR DREAMBOX SCHOOL SITE BOOKMARKED ON EACH COMPUTER?
It is helpful to bookmark your school's DreamBox site on each computer students will frequently use to access DreamBox. Instead of typing in the long school URL, students can click the favorites button at the top of the web browser and navigate directly to the school site. If you are unsure how to favorite a site on your web browser, search "favorite" and the name of your web browser to find directions on the internet.
